From Lesotho to Louisiana

We began as a Peace Corps Volunteer and his host brother, looking for something to do, and how to help a community in a remote mountain range. Katleho and I taught ourselves to sew. Then we taught the village.

Soon after leaving the Peace Corps, I brought our little bowtie company to New Orleans. I found myself selling our creations in the most vibrant artist community imaginable. Thousands of people from all over the world streamed into our nightly art market, on the lively Frenchmen street.

That first night in the market was in 2015. It rained I was setting up my booth, but in that time, I sold enough bowties to earn more than my monthly Peace Corps stipend. I was hooked. And made New Orleans the second home of Bow Shoeshoe.

COVID has spiced things up a bit, but like any entrepreneur, you must see challenges for what they truly are, opportunity to adapt.
